Shark Cake

It may have been slightly cruel to make this cake for a person who loves sharks but has an ironic fear of the ocean. A funfetti cake from scratch with a white buttercream frosting.  The ocean creatures are made from homemade fondant.

Lemon Cupcakes

Lemon cupcakes with a lemon curd filling, whipped cream topping and candied lemon!

Pumpkin Cheesecake

Pumpkin cheesecake is not just for Thanksgiving.  We baked a pumpkin cheesecake with a cinnamon graham cracker crust, a cream cheese whipped cream, and chocolate topping for a customer. It's rewarding to see the final product, but a bummer to not be able to eat it afterward.

Toy Story Cupcakes

Working with fondant is really great for decorating desserts especially when you are going with a character theme.  Who doesn’t love Toy Story?  My brother-in-law Steve certainly does, so we made Toy Story cupcakes for his 27th birthday.  You’ve Got A Friend in Me.

Whiskey Cupcakes

After a long day at work, the two best indulgences are chocolate and a drink.  We combined the two into a cupcake: Golden Crown Whiskey added to a dark chocolate cupcake.   Adding liqueur to your cake makes it even more moist and delicious.  If you’re looking for a strong liqueur flavor for your cupcake (why not?), then add the liqueur to the frosting as well.  The majority of the alcohol evaporates out of the batter when it is cooking.

Whimsical Bridal Shower

We made two whimsically decorated cupcakes for a bridal shower: a dark chocolate with chocolate ganache and white chocolate frosting cupcake, and a lemon-flavored with strawberry frosting cupcake.  The latter cupcake was hollowed out somewhat and then stuffed with a strawberry; healthy option.  The lemon cupcakes were decorated with a homemade white chocolate mold. The chocolate cupcakes were decorated with homemade fondant flowers and fondant confetti.

Harry Potter and Friends

Ana is a huge Harry Potter fan. So for her (and my) birthday, I made her Harry Potter and Friends cupcakes. They are red velvet cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting. I wanted to stay true to the Gryffindor colors (scarlet and gold). She enjoyed them a great deal even if I was being a little selfish in baking them for myself as well ;) The advantage of being a twin.

iPhone Cupcakes

Carlos simply cannot live without his iPhone.  For his 24th Birthday, we made him iPhone cupcakes. Hopefully we're not reinforcing the notion of being completely dependent on your phone, but he enjoyed them all the same.

Superhero Birthday

What better way to celebrate your 21st than to eat Superhero Cupcakes? We thought it would be appropriate to add liqueur to these cupcakes and surprised him with our Bourbon Cupcake. Maker's Mark anyone? We decorated these cupcakes with fondant superhero characters, including Flash, Batman, Green Lantern, Fantastic Four, Superman, and Captain America.  Ana and I don't want to take all the credit, but he had a good birthday.

Caitlin and Josh

Hi Everyone!
Ana and I made the desserts for a wedding last summer. We have been baking desserts for parties for some time now, so I have some updating to do.  We made cupcakes and mini cheesecakes for the bride and groom and they turned out great. The wedding was a blast! We made Chocolate Ganache cupcakes as well as Lemon Cupcakes. I have to give Ana credit for her chocolate ganache cupcake creation, which is very moist.  I had to stop myself from eating too many.  The frosting was made with Chambord's Raspberry liqueur, which I recommend in your cooking as it is absolutely delicious. I made blueberry mini cheesecakes.  You will find with making cheesecakes that you can have problems with the batter rising while baking and then falling resulting in an unattractive crack. This can be avoided by not over beating the batter.   You can also use berries.  The blueberries helped the batter rise so that a pretty cheesecake resulted. You can never go wrong with berries.
